Several sunny days contributed to decent flights on 11/14 (76) and 11/15 (88).
Red-tailed hawks continue to show up in the highest numbers; they made up 133 of 249 total observations. We also saw good numbers of bald eagles (36), rough-legged hawks (44), and red-shouldered hawks (19) this week. Several golden eagle (10) sightings included one individual flying low over the count site on 11/15.
11/15 was Calvin’s last day as our official point counter. Thank you to Calvin for a wonderful season! This was his fourth season as MSRW’s fall hawk counter. Enjoy your time off this winter and hopefully we will see you again in the spring! Ed Pike and Russ Edmonds will take his place through the end of the month.
